The Department of General Services ("Department" or "DGS") plans to deliver this
project through a Design-Assist Delivery Method. A narrative for the scope of work is
listed in the sections below. If deviations or conflicts arise from what is referenced in
the program requirements/scope of work and field conditions, the Contractor shall
submit a request for clarification.
a) Design-Build renovations to the park implementing Concept 1 (Exhibit 1) which is
to be used as a basis for design. Produce a complete set of contract drawings for
permit.

b) No ground-disturbing activities in this park should take place without prior
consultation with the DC Historic Preservation Office (HPO) and the DGS Project
Manager. All work in the park will need to be planned with preservation of
archaeological resources in mind. Any required archaeological investigations must be
approved by the DC HPO, through review and acceptance of an archaeological work
plan.
The Park shall include at a minimum the following:
a)Replace temporary water line to Dog Park with permanent in-ground water line.
Install a new freeze-proof Dual Station with Pet Drinking Fountain (per attached
specs) in place of existing drinking fountain located near the main entrance of the
park. Relocate existing drinking fountain to the Dog Park.
b)Stabilization and erosion control at hillside adjacent to the playground.
c)Install new ornamental fencing around layout of existing playground, similar to the
existing one, to be placed around layout of playground.
d)Remove and replace playground surface with Engineered Wood Fiber.
e)Replace rotting and deteriorating playground equipment with new playground
equipment. Exiting playground equipment in good condition to remain, including but
not limited to "Freddy, The Firetruck". Community feedback to be taken into
consideration for all chosen playground equipment.
f)Provide add/alternate pricing for new signage at park entrance on Adams Mill Road
NW. Signage must commemorate the story and rich history of the park and must
create an appealing entrance for passersby. Main entrance signage must also
incorporate a space where local events and announcements may be posted.
g)Provide add/alternate pricing to replace all existing signage with new signage per
DPR standards, including but not limited to, new court rules signs, new dog park rules
signs, new playground rules signs, new field rules signs, new 'Park Closes at Dark'
signs at all entrances, and new park entrance ID signs and dog park name signs at
other entrances to the park.
